Resmed myNight Mask Review: Light Blocking, Comfort and Design

Resmed is a brand I trust, and I already use both the Resmed AirSense 10 and Resmed AirMini Travel CPAP machines. So, when Resmed asked us to review their myNight Mask, I was interested to see how it would perform.

Resmed supplied the myNight Mask for us to try. As always, our opinions are based on our own experience using the product.

The myNight Mask by Resmed is made from a soft, lightweight and breathable fabric that creates a darkened environment wherever you are. The myNight Mask is perfect for everyday use at home, but I was particularly interested in trying it for travel.

I am a notoriously light sleeper at the best of times and when I travel this becomes an even larger problem as long-haul flights, changes in time zones, climate and environment play havoc with my easily interrupted sleep patterns.

Resmed myNight Mask Review

In the past I have used eye masks with little success, either the straps dig in, the mask slip all over my face or they do not filter out the light sufficiently.

I was curious to see how the Resmed myNight mask would hold up against these masks and this is what I found.

Visual Appearance

From first glance you can see that the Resmed myNight mask is a quality product. The sleek pale grey ComfiSoft fabric covers an exterior that fits securely around the face.

The darker grey interior is softly padded to cushion the face. The myNight mask fits securely against the bridge of the nose, forehead and temples to block out light.

The head strap is in the same dark grey shade as the interior of the mask. The strap is adjustable with a lot of leeway for different sized head shapes.

Additionally, the mask comes in a flat black carry pouch that protects the mask when not in use and packs flat for easy transportation when travelling.

Mask Comfort

The Resmed myNight Mask is super soft and melds comfortably into the contours of your face. In fact, we did not feel the mask on our face once we had adjusted it to our liking.

The mask has a deep eye recess with plenty of space to open your eyes. This allows for a less claustrophobic experience when wearing the mask.

The adjustable strap keeps the mask in place throughout the night. Both Alan and I tried on the mask adjusting the strap according to our head size. We both agreed that the strap felt secure and comfortable.

Resmed myNight Mask Light Filter

I was instantly impressed by the light filter of the Resmed myNight mask. Once the mask is on everything is pitch black. The cushioning of the mask was not only comfortable, but it blocked out all light.

This makes the myNight mask by Resmed perfect for home and travel. The mask is a handy tool for grabbing a good night’s sleep. The absolute darkness is a tranquil haven from the annoying glare of harsh streetlights or blinding sunlight.

Can you use the Mask with a CPAP Machine?

What is the best eye mask for sleeping with CPAP? This is a question many people ask, and it will depend on which form of CPAP headgear you use. The myNight mask is not suitable for anyone using a full CPAP face mask that covers both nose and mouth.

I use nasal masks with my Resmed AirMini Travel and Resmed AirSense 10 CPAP machines, and the myNight mask works well with both.

First, I put my CPAP nasal mask on my head and place the myNight mask over the top. This keeps the thin straps of my CPAP mask in place all night and does not interfere with the light blocking function of the myNight mask.
